FAQ

You will find answers to many of your questions on this page. Also, be sure to check the other sections of the "Customer Service" as well as "About Us". For more detailed information on pricing, care of your desk, the design process, assembly instructions, a complete product guide and more, visit our PDF download page.

How do I decide which pieces I need?

First, consider your work needs. What kind of space do you need for equipment (computer, monitors, printer, scanner, fax, phone, etc.)? Do you need dedicated space for spreading out projects or reference materials or, perhaps, a table for meeting with clients? Does the space need to accommodate two or more people?

Second, measure your room or available space. Consider traffic patterns, electrical outlets, windows, and doors.

Third, look over our products to get ideas. The InterActive Desk comes in several pre-determined packages or you can build your own configuration. There are 4 main InterActive pieces: the WingTop Desk, Peninsula Table, Corner Table and Return Table. Whether you start with a package or your own selections, you can then add additional pieces, shelves, and storage.

Fourth, use our free, simple "Space Planning Kit: InterActive Desks". We provide easy-to-follow instructions for drawing your room and templates of the desk components. Decidedly "low-tech", this cut-and-paste approach gives everyone the chance to try different configurations of both the desk pieces and other furniture in your room. You then send it to us and we will review it and provide you a full quote. To download WorkSpaces' Small Office Space Planning Kit, go to our PDF Download Page and look for the "Space Planning Kit: InterActive Desks" under the sub-heading "Space Planning."

If you prefer, WorkSpaces can provide a space plan for you. We provide a CAD drawing of your room (using the dimensions you provide via a hand-drawn sketch) with a desk configuration based on your preferences. We then work with you to make adjustments as needed. Your final CAD drawing will depict all the desks, tables, shelves, chairs and/or accessories you have decided on. We currently do not charge for this service, but reserve the right to make this a fee-for-service in the future.

For larger commercial project, please contact us at 1-800-466-4123.

Which finish should I choose?

Choose based on wood tones desired in your room. For the InterActive Desks, Height Adjustable Desks, InterActive File Cabinets and Wall Mounted Shelves, choose Pearwood laminate for a warm medium tone, Cordovan Walnut laminate for a deep dark finish, or Maple laminate for a lighter appearance. These days woodgrain laminates are remarkably realistic and attractive, as well as exceptionally durable.

What can you tell me about your quality, especially compared to less expensive desks?

When we designed the InterActive Desk we relied on over 20 years of design and manufacturing experience. We don't use particleboard or edgebands that chip, peel, and delaminate. We use a dense wood fiber core that gives the desk the weight of solid oak…and weight means stability and no wobble. We use metal-to-metal thread fasteners, not wood screws that loosen up. Our finishes are chosen from the highest quality of their category: baked-on powder coating on metal and wood grain laminates applied under heat and pressure, then vacuum-formed around all edges to seal them completely. Our tops are one-inch thick with balanced laminates on both faces so the core is completely sealed to resist warp and sag. Finally, there are no unfinished edges on the desk.  Because of these design elements, we have never had a customer say, "I am disappointed with the InterActive Desk quality and want you to take it back". We are confident you too will be pleasantly surprised by our quality.

Should I assemble the desk myself or schedule installers to do so?

The InterActive Desks and Tables are not difficult to set up and come with well-illustrated instructions. People who wish to save money and have the time should opt to do it themselves. It also can be satisfying to find out how well made the desk is by doing the assembly yourself.

However, if you are a busy person or not interested in performing mechanical tasks, you should considering hiring a professional installer. WorkSpaces will refer you to an installer (available in most areas) and you then coordinate the scheduling and pricing with them directly.
