Characteristics Unique to InterActive Desks
When specifying characteristics that are unique to the InterActive Desk follow the points below. Remember, it is the inclusion of all these features in one desk that makes us different from another workstation. You can find some of these characteristics on another desk but not all.Keyboard Ergonomics
- Accepts extended keyboards and mouse on same adjustable surface (mouse is on the same plane as the keyboard, not below or above!)
- Keyboard is deep enough to also accept a 3 in. deep wrist rest in front of the keyboard.
- Keyboard front edge is radiused and tapered for minimum pressure on wrist area.
- Keyboard can be adjusted for personal comfort: vertical adjustment range of 6 inches, 10 degrees negative tilt (important) and 5 degrees positive tilt.
- Also slides in and out about 3/4 of the way, and swings to the left or right for easy access below the desk.
Plan View Desk Design
- 65 x 65 maximum footprint, InterActive Desk. Smaller desk models at 60 x 60 inches and 48 x 48 inches are available.
- Desk is oriented toward the corner, user sits at 45° to the corner and the monitor is located in the corner.
- The work envelope reach radius is designed to allow average user access to upper and lower shelf storage from a seated position and without scooting the chair.
- Note board and file storage pockets are located within the reach radius at shoulder level.
Desk Construction Features
- Desk can be castered for mobility and has a maximum weight bearing capacity of 600 lbs. (including the desk weight)
- All work edges where wrists are to be rested are radiused and tapered.
- Balanced panel construction includes equal thickness of laminates on both sides of a core composed of one inch thick engineered board called 45 lb. Super Refined MDF. (no particleboard is used; superior hardness and stability, very resistant to sag or bow)
- All structural connections are threaded, metal-to-metal connections. Threaded screws fit into conical threaded inserts imbedded into the desk underside. No wood screws are used! You can tear down and reassemble the desk an unlimited number of times without experiencing loose joints.
- Assembly includes graphically illustrated step-by-step instructions with a minimum of text. Assembly time for the basic desk is 45 minutes for a person on their second desk. The only tools required for assembly are a phillips screw driver (Makita power driver is recommended on multiple units), pair of pliers, and an allen wrench (shipped with desk).
Follow On Order Advantages
Shipment by Common Carrier, UPS or FedEx Ground
InterActive Desk components are shippable by UPS or FedEx Ground although we ship most orders at deep discount via common carriers. If you order only one component it will come immediately via UPS or FedEx Ground in well protected packaging. This means very rapid delivery. Large companies have difficulty shipping follow on items efficiently since they do not package well enough for UPS or FedEx Ground or the "length x width" of their item exceeds size limits.
