Outstanding Turnkey Customer Service

Because WorkSpaces is a specialty provider of office design products we have the ability to offer a very high level of personal service to our customers. We strive to be transparent and forthright with our customers about the terms of sales and delivery of the office designs they purchase. Alternatively our competition's success is based on volume processing of orders. To this end they have developed promotional offers that include many omissions and loopholes to hide extra costs that impact the customer later in the purchase process.

Typical Customer Service Issues in The Furniture Industry

If you read the fine print in the typical online reseller's shipping policies there will be a statement like this (actual quote from the largest furniture reseller's site):

"The carrier will arrive with the products and the customer will be required to remove the items from the rear of the truck. You can contact the shipper directly to inquire about additional shipping services, such as liftgate truck. In this event, it is your responsibility to directly pay the truck delivery carrier for any additional services."

You have just agreed to extra costs that are not on your invoice. Any issues with the carrier that arise on delivery will be up to you to resolve. If you would like to survey typical consumer complaints against large furniture companies, you can go to your search engine, put in the word "complaints" and visit any of the top sites to view the large number of complaints against major furniture sellers (or put in Workspaces.com, we have zero complaints).

Here is a comparison between WorkSpaces and the typical online drop ship web sites regarding these tricky extra costs included in the fine print:

Subject/Claim   Extra Cost Qualification
"Free Shipping"   "To Commercial Dock Only" In other words you will need a forklift to get the goods off the truck and pay the extra "residential delivery fee". This is left for you to negotiate with the trucker. The "free" part just became more expensive. In contrast WorkSpaces will make sure that all issues are covered and arranged before your order is shipped. We take care of relations with the carrier, not you. We don't hide these fees by making you negotiate with the trucker at delivery time.
"No Hassles Delivery"   "Tailgate Delivery" Tailgate means you have to lift it off the truck bed down to the ground. For heavy pallet you will need a forklift or pay the delivery company extra, which you must arrange yourself. Also the delivery company is usually a separate vendor who in turn hires delivery "agents" in each city. These are usually newly employed persons with limited training at just above minimum wage, not who you want carrying your new desk. WorkSpaces will assess whether you need a liftgate truck or not and those services will be included in your quoted invoice before the order is booked. If we hire a delivery company they will be professionals with good references and a long term commitment to building their reputation for quality. They understand the nature of problems in home delivery and are trained to avoid those issues.
"Short Lead Time"   Short lead times are frequently quoted in order to get the order. However, drop ship web sites have little control over actual delivery time since they sell from hundreds of vendors with all degrees of factory problems delaying your order. Complaint web sites often list over optimistic lead times as one of the major issues with furniture consumers. WorkSpaces has been working with a select group of the same vendors for over 10 years. Our working relationship is so stable that we always know in advance if there will be any issue exceeding our normal 2-3 week lead time (even for custom!). We don't have a phone maze to wade through or hundreds of temp employees with a phone script to ward off consumer inquiries regarding your lead time. We will be up front with you on any lead time issue.
"Easy Return Policy"   Volume discount sellers often advertise this since they know from history that many consumers will give up in frustration and go away. Consumers want to hear that returns are easy since it justifies buying a cheaper product. The truth is that furniture is heavy, bulky, and complicated compared to a sweater or item that can be shipped via UPS. If there is a problem with furniture the seller is generally not going to pay for the return shipping and it's almost impossible to get it back into the original packaging and onto a pallet for pickup. In other words the seller has several loop holes to protect them from the costs of returned items. WorkSpaces has a simple philosophy... design a great product with quality materials and workmanship, make sure the furniture is delivered with the expected factory quality and in good condition, and provide an iron clad guarantee to fix it if anything is wrong. And then ship out replacement items on a timely basis to make the customer happy. We make sure the customer is getting the correct model and finish for their situation before the order is ever booked. In this way we have avoided having to take back items that in truth are difficult to return due to size, weight, and packaging. We prevent problems at the front end and we don't argue with you at the back end.
